Chinese Factories Challenge Samsung OLED skipping the hard board to soft board

Recently, OLED become the main stream on display technology, panel manufacturer in China also feel the developing trends, planning to challenge the OLED soft board to fight against factory in Korea.

According to reports by ET news.com, Tianma, GVO had already ordered to purchase equipment ready for OLED soft board production line. Besides, it seems that the investment of CSOT and BOE generation 8th LCD factory will be delayed and the resources will be devoted to the exploitation of OLED soft board instead.

Tianma generation 6th LTPS LCD panel factory had been planned to expand, the report said, however, Tianma intend to change some production line to produce AMOLED soft board and estimate to put into production in second half year of 2017

As the soft board equipment is expensive and the technology is much more difficult, whether the real output yield is stable and the Chinese manufacturer can bear or not is a question.

According to the market research firm IHS, Samsung Panel department SDI OLED market rate is up to 97.7% in the first quarter, the second is LG and the third is AU, which account for only 0.9% and 0.9% respectively.
